[edit] Welcome to the Austin Cohousing/Kaleidoscope Village Wiki
Welcome to our wiki. Austin Cohousing is a group of individuals and families who have been working (some of us for quite a few years) to bring cohousing to Austin, Texas. Kaleidoscope Village is the fruition of all the time, money, and labor we have invested. Our status as of June 2009:
- Two longterm members of the community have formed and funded a corporation to develop the property on behalf of the community.
- The developers own six acres of land (clear title).
- We have site plan approval from the City of Austin for 37 units and a 4000 sq ft common house.
- The first phase of infrastructure (land clearing and stormwater drainage) is complete.
- Final construction documents from the architect have been submitted.
- The developers have decided on a builder and are in the process of drawing up a final contract.
Note: We had to close the wiki to public access due to spamming. Our new drupal website at [kvaustin.org] will finally allow us to have multiple levels of access. We're in the process of moving content there. For instance, you can now look at the common house floorplan, and we will soon have unit floorplans up.

[edit] Austin Cohousing Current Activities and Sign Ups
Because most of the work of building KV has now been turned over to the developers, many of our standing committees are inactive. That does not mean nothing is going on in Austin Cohousing. These are the currently active committees and ongoing activities (see the Calendar for upcoming meeting times and places). Visitors are welcome at all meetings.
- Current Issues and Sign Ups - topics currently being discussed here on the wiki
- Business Meeting Logistics and Minutes - usually held on the third Sunday of each month
- Agenda Committee - meets Thursday (or sometimes Wednesday) before the business meeting. The purpose is to set the agenda and plan facilitation for the business meetings.
- New Member Committee - Answering inquiries, hosting orientations, helping prospective members get to know the community and vice versa. (Meeting times vary.)
- Information Technologies - Taking care of our electronic communications and data storage needs. Currently meeting on an ad hoc basis and mostly by email.
- Maintaining KV Austin – There's a lot of work to do; can you help?
- Monthly Social - These are usually held the first week of the month.
- Conversation Cafe - We usually have at least one of the these per month.
